A First Date with Death by Diana Orgain

This is the first book and a three-book series of love or money mystery. To be honest I only read this book because it was free and I was avoiding self-help books.  It turned out to be a great surprise. I actually like the book.  

It is a murder mystery wholly didn't figure it out until the end.  To be honest the story is not about the murder or the mystery of it it's about the ex-cop and her getting over the pain of a lost love and moving on to find a new one.   Not sure I would have picked a tv reality show to move on to.  To each their own.

The murder part is kind of a secondary plot that I'm not exactly sure it really needs to be there.   It does provide some interesting twists along the way.  The author does a good job of setting the scene and the characters.  There is no in-depth detail on character development that one might expect for a novel. 

Granted there are a lot of characters but you don't end up really knowing a lot about any of them. The story takes place in just a few short days. It keeps moving at a good pace. I'm sure we will learn more about the main character in the other two books of the series. 

This book is definitely worth a fun lighthearted read perfect for a summer afternoon.
